The season’s must-wear styles
The 2016-2017 season announces a return to classic pieces like blouses, capes, down jackets and women’s suits.
There are no specific guidelines when it comes to blouses, they can be classically tailored or more modern. However the watchword is buttoned-up - all the way up.
As for the capes, which have been it-items for the past few seasons, they can be long or reduced down to a shoulder-hugging capelet.
Down jackets are always featured in the collections, however contrary to other seasons, the 2016-2017 Fall/Winter collections have incorporated much thicker jackets to keep you protected on the coldest days.
This season the women’s suit, which never goes out of style, ruled the runways. Whether it is loose-fit or tightly tailored, this is a versatile MUST HAVE.
Our favorite accessory is the bow-knot scarf, which gives a touch of elegance and refinement.
Winter color trends for 2016/2017
This Fall/Winter we will see a huge return to warm taupe, a color that can be easily matched with a wide variety of classic winter shades.
Spicy mustard is one of this season’s most popular colors featured in numerous collections. You can brighten up gray winter days with touches of this golden yellow or a bold head-to-toe look.
Particular attention goes to stripes, the in-the-moment print trend. Whether they are vertical or horizontal, they are easier to pair than one might think at first glance.
Transparent lightweight fabrics are in style. Countless fashion designers used transparent fabrics to create their pieces from blouses to tops and dresses.
Fabrics and prints
The Fall/Winter 2016-2017 seasons will see a return to brocade, a refined fabric that goes perfectly with jeans or wool pieces.
Tartan will stay in-vogue whether it is a light or dark shade.
Velvet is coming back into style and will be this year’s leading fabric. You can wear it as a total head-to-toe look or pair it with other fabrics.
Animal prints will stay in the forefront. Leopard and tiger prints will be the predominant styles.
Sportswear, which is often frowned upon, is welcome in your wardrobe this year. Go for a bold look by mixing sportswear into your wardrobe and feel free to go for a head-to-toe look or to combine it with a classy outfit.
